Outreach - South Ohio

SWE Outreach Programs inspire the next generation of STEM professionals.

We engage are children and young adults with the possibilities of a STEM career path thorugh inspiring workshops and interaction with SWE role models. South Ohio SWE participates in many outreach events each year to support this goal. Our section hosts Collegiate Mentoring, Girl Scout, Engineering Week, and High School Outreach events, as well as providing support and advertising for outreach events hosted by other organizations. We inspire students (girls and boys) to see engineering and technical careers as a desirable.

NOTE: All volunteers and staff interacting with youth must complete the SWE Youth Protection training course in accordance with SWE policy.

Unity Day at Fairborn High School

This event takes place in August of each near as a college and career exploration – expo-style event.

College & Career Fair at Dayton Regional STEM School

This event takes place each fall at the Dayton Regional STEM School. College and career exploration – expo style event.

Girl Scouts We Love STEM at Dayton Girl Scout Center

(Sat in Jan/Feb), Normally 9:00am – 12:00pm. For Daisies and Brownies w/ leaders and/or parents – Gr. K-3. Hands-on activities set up as stations, for small group rotation

Sat/Sun, February 15 & 16 – TechFest in Dayton at Sinclair Community College

10am – 6pm Saturday; 11am – 5pm Sunday. Hands-on activities for families and kids of all ages – expo style

STEM Fest at Springboro High School

This event normally takes place during a weeknight in March. (Approx. 6-8pm). Hands-on activities for families and kids of all ages – expo style

Approx. 5-8pm, w/ day time hours for teachers and students

This event usually takes place on a weeknight in May. Approx. 6-8pm. Hands-on activities for families and kids of all ages – expo style

Sat, November 9 – iSpace Day in Cincinnati/Norwood at iSpace facility

Join us from 10am – 2pm. Hands-on activities for families and kids of all ages – expo style event. Volunteers needed!
