Vice President

Aliyah Davis

Hello! My name is Aliyah Davis. I received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisville in 2022 and am currently working as a mechanical design engineer at GE Aerospace. I am also currently pursuing my M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. At GE, I have worked in our future of flight hybrid electric organization, specifically working on a high power, hybrid electric flight demonstration program. Although I am a mechanical engineer by degree, my current role has led to a plethora of valuable experiences such as through supplier interactions, detailed design of hardware, hardware procurement, and test engineer lead. I have recently become involved with SWE through the South Ohio section. I believe that fostering environments such as in SWE is so important for women to feel accepted in engineering spaces, so I am eager to contribute to the organization! In my free time, I enjoy volunteering at my local animal shelter, cooking, and travelling.

Secretary

Bing Han

Bing Han is the Secretary of the South Ohio Society of Women Engineers (SWE). She earned her B.S. in Polymer Engineering from Fudan University in Shanghai and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and later served as a visiting researcher in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Delaware. Today, Bing is a Senior Engineer in Engineering Materials Systems (EMS) at GE Aerospace. Over her career she has led manufacturing and R&D efforts across composites, adhesives, glass, and high-temperature thermal-barrier coatings. Within GE she is an active member of the Women in Technology (WiT) network and the Asian Pacific Alliance (APA). In her free time, Bing enjoys swimming, gardening, and globe-trotting with her husband, Drew, and their four children: tween daughters Caroline and Cathrine and their twin toddler boys, Grant and Alan. Bing is excited about supporting the South Ohio SWE chapter.

Treasurer

Dr. Julie Skipper

Julie Skipper received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 1991 and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (Medical Physics and Engineering track) in 2003, both from Wright State University. She is a currently Research Faculty member in the Department of Engineering Physics at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB and is also the founder of Skipper Consulting. Her research focuses radiation detection and measurement, positron spectroscopy, and novel materials for quantum applications. She has authored over 30 scientific publications, holds two patents, and has received over $7M of sponsored research funding. With a passion for teaching and mentorship, Dr. Skipper co-led an Air Force Research Laboratory STEM entrepreneurial internship program and has been an active volunteer with FIRST Robotics for the past twelve years.

She first joined SWE as a student over thirty years ago, has subsequently served as the Faculty Advisor for the Wright State Student Chapter of SWE, and is excited about supporting the South Ohio SWE chapter.
